Heavy Metal: Hulkoff Announce Sophomore Album

Hulkoff, the heavy metal side project of Pär Hulkoffgarden, has a new album coming in 2020.

Hulkoff has promised that Pansarfolk will be a much more folky album than their first, and it’ll include folk instruments and acoustic guitar parts. Fittingly, the album will also be in both English and Swedish.

Hulkoff on the new album:
“This time we will be digging deep into the Nordic roots. We will be looking at the way music sounded back when Odin was still a living king. . . It’s gonna be pretty god damn massive.”

While no further details have been revealed yet, check out the single ‘Scyth’, which came out last year.

Hulkoff was formed in 2017, with the first album, Kven, coming out that same year. It’s helmed by Pär Hulkoffgarden, who is also the guitarist and vocalist of the industrial metal warmachine Raubtier.

Power metallers In Victory have announced that they have a new EP on the road for 4 January of 2020. Entitled Ecstasy of the Enlightened, it will be the band’s third EP release, after 2013’s And the Hero Died and last year’s Uplifting Metal.

Ectsasy of the Enlightened was created with the support of Rikard Sundén (Civil War, ex-Sabaton), Biggie Phanrath (Melodius Deite) and Gege Velinov (Arion).

KingCrown Announce New Album

The French heavy/power metal band KingCrown (formerly Öblivïon) have announced that a new album will be released this winter. A Perfect World will hit the scene on 1 November via Rock of Angels Records.

01. The Flame Of My Soul
02. Qumrân Caves
03. In The Sky Of Athens
04. The Human Tide
05. Over The Moon
06. The End Is Near
07. Golden Knights
08. Sad Song For A Dead Child
09. Soundtrack Of My Existence
10. A Perfect World
11. Over The Moon Acoustic (Bonus Track)

As mentioned above, the band changed their name from Öblivïon to KingCrown, having released only one album under their old moniker. This was a smart move, because I can think of at least five other bands named “Oblivion”, and there are probably leagues more.

A Perfect World was recorded in October/November of 2018. Mixing and mastering was taken care of by Roland Grapow in Grapow Studios, Slovakia (Helloween, Masterplan, Serious Black, Lords Of Black) and the artwork was created by Steff Rabilloud.

Unleash The Archers Announce New EP

Two years after the critically-acclaimed Apex, Canadian melodeathers Unleash the Archers have announced a new EP. Explorers will be released on 11 October 2019 under Napalm Records.

The EP (which is really a single) will consist of two tracks, both of which are covers of Canadian songs.

01: Northwest Passage
02: Heartless World

Here’s what the band has to say about the first track, ‘Northwest Passage’:
“This song means a lot to us as a band, we like to put it on during those long drives on tour and it always brings us right back home. We originally recorded it to be a bonus track for our last full length album Apex, but we loved the track so much we knew it needed special treatment. We held on to it for a bit and eventually decided to release it as its own 7″ vinyl EP with another Canadian cover song as the B side. The song ‘Northwest Passage’ is all about touring through Canada, which Stan Rogers did a lot, and how it equates to being an explorer looking for the passage all those years ago. It really hits home with us, we’ve toured through Canada too many times to count, so we know just how Stan was feeling. That’s where the name of the EP came from too; every time we hit the road on tour it’s like we too become Explorers, with the great big unknown stretching out before us.”

Along with the EP announcement, the band have also announced their participation in Full Metal Cruise 2020, which starts in Kiel, Germany, on 23rd September 2020, alongside Sonata Arctica and label colleagues Legion Of The Damned.

Album Announcement From Brothers Of Metal

Brothers of Metal have been one of the best-known metal newcomers since their debut, Prophecy of Ragnarok, in 2017, when they entered the scene in a storm of rain and thunder. Their bass-cranked brand of true metal is contagious and they’ve quickly gained a substantial fan following through their eccentric performances and viking image.

Finally, as fans like me have been waiting eagerly, the band have announced their sophomore album. Emblas Saga will feature their latest battle hymns when it arrives this winter on 6 December via AFM Records.

Here’s what the band had to say on their Facebook post:
Memories will fade from man.
The snow of death will fall upon the children of Wodan.
Distant echoes, whispering of how it all began for the children of Wodan.

Warriors! Together we await the epic tales of the gods, the memories of the earth and the birth of man!
It shall be called

Emblas saga
